2013 Chevrolet Malibu Turbo

Who knew sedans could be so much fun?

The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu already offers two impressive new powertrains, a 2.5-liter Ecotec I4 and a proven 2.4-liter unit mated with eAssist technology. However Chevy released news that the 2013 Chevy Malibu is now introducing a third powertrain in the form of a turbocharged 2.0-liter I4 able to produce a whopping 259 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Expect the new 2013 Malibu Turbo to be released in the near future with a starting MSRP of $27,710.

The new 2013 Malibu Turbo is based on the mid-range Malibu LT and it includes great standard features such as new, bigger 18-inch aluminum wheels.

Inside the 2013 Malibu Turbo the cabin has been upgraded. The interior now offers ice-blue ambient lighting and is now equipped with a dual-zone automatic climate-control system, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat , an enhanced tilt/telescoping steering wheel with integrated audio/cruise controls, remote start, and Chevy’s  MyLink media setup.

Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system  USB Connectivity, Bluetooth technology and a seven-inch color touchscreen.

If the above features aren’t enough, Chevrolet allows 2013 Malibu Turbo drivers to pair the Turbo’s power with a more premium package in the form of the LTZ trim, which adds on a set of LED taillamps and leather-appointed seats with a heated front row. The LTZ trim of the 2013 Chevy Malibu Turbo will go for about $30,925.

Now it’s time to talk about the good stuff, the stuff you want to read, the TURBO!

The 2013 Malibu Turbo comes mated standard to a six-speed automatic transmission, and it delivers masterful performance not just on the road, but on the gas pump as well!

The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Turbo can power up from 0-60MPH in just 6.3 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 155 mph.

To top it off the 2013 Malibu Turbo is able to achieve EPA marks of 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway, thanks to different powertrain technologies like an air-to-air intercooler, direct injection, twin-scroll turbocharger, an aluminum cylinder head and aluminum pistons and more.

When asked about the new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Turbo, Mark Meyers, GM’s global vehicle performance manager said: “The all-new turbocharged engine showcases just how capable the new Malibu is, and the turbocharged Malibu is perfect for customers who want a midsize sedan that is fun to drive under a wide range of real-world conditions.”

Conclusion

Well folks, in my opinion, Mr. Meyers hit the nail right on the head. The new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Turbo is going to completely change the way we look at the Malibu. No longer will the Malibu be looked at as boring, it is now a sedan for those that want to enjoy a classy sedan, loads of features and, last but not least, the road.

2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

2013 silverado 1500

What’s New?

For the 2013 model year, the Chevy Silverado 1500 and its Hybrid version will see three new available colors including (Deep Ruby Metallic, White Diamond Tricoat, and Blue Topaz Metallic)while eliminating two  (Imperial Blue Metallic and Black Granite metallic).

Also, the 2013 Silverado will offer all-terrain tires instead of the on-/off-road units found on the 2012 models, and is discontinuing a few options including the sliding bed divider, its overhead utility rack, and the deluxe chrome package.

Under the Hood

Most 2013 Silverado 1500’s come equipped with the available 5.3L V8engine which is able to produce 315 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque and 15 MPG city, 22 MPG highway when running on gasoline. Other available engine choices include a 195-horsepower, 4.3-liter V-6 and, at the base level, a flex-fuel 4.8-liter V-8 which produces 302-hp. The LTZ trim offers the most powerful engine available, more details below.

For 2013 the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid will once again be made available. Its 20-mpg city and 23-mpg highway EPA ratings make it a smart pick for those looking to have a little fun on and off the road while saving a few bucks at the pump.

The Silverado Hybrid is different from the other Silverado models in the sense that it uses a two-mode hybrid powertrain that pairs an aluminum-alloy 6.0-liter V-8 with cylinder deactivation and variable valve timing, to an electrically variable transmission (EVT) with four fixed-ratio gears powered by two electric motor/generators and a nickel-metal-hydride 300-volt battery pack.

The Hybrid Chevy Silverado 1500 is able to produce 332 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque, and despite it being heavier it performs about as well as 5.3-liter standard versions. The Hybrid Silverado 1500 can tow 6,100 pounds with 2WD, or 5,900 pounds with automatic dual-range four-wheel drive.

Trims

The 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 is available in three trims: WT, LT and LTZ.

The WT trim offers a fully boxed front frame which helps provide extra strength and durability. Inside the WT trim one will find vinyl 40/20/40 front seating and rubberized vinyl floor covering. Exterior features for the WT trim include black front bumper and grille, black door handles, 17" steel wheels and a chrome rear step bumper. The WT trim is also equipped with AM/FM Radio, cruise control, daytime running lamps and a spare tire lock.

The LT trim brings the same features as the WT but also offers some interior amenities including: premium cloth 40/20/40 front seating with locking under seat storage and leather- wrapped steering wheel.

The LTZ trim is the top-of-the-line trim for the Silverado offering an available Vortec 6.2L V8 engine that is capable of generating over 400 horsepower  and a payload capacity of 1,937 lbs. The LTZ is loaded with the extra features such as auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, remote vehicle starter system, fog lamps, a rear-window defogger, heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators.

Interior features for the LTZ trim include: automatic dual-zone climate control and power, heated leather-appointed front bucket seats. Plus technology highlights include, USB port with Ipod connectivity, Bluetooth wireless technology for select phones and an excellent seven-speaker Bose sound system.
Conclusion

Overall the changes are minimal on the 2013 Silverado; however even though it has remained mostly
unchanged it still is neck and neck with its competitors in the class. If you can afford a new one go for it, especially if you are into the new off road tires, but if money is tight you can still buy a 2012 model and be more than satisfied with your Silverado.
